STUFF THAT JUST HAPPENED!
FAKER
We’ve just played a bunch of shows with Faker which were really fun, thanks to everyone that got there early to see us and Rockets.
Played in Sydney at The Standard which is an awesome new venue, which brings us to the point of excitement- The Standard, Fbi Social and now next year we are getting our own Hi-Fi Bar, so things are looking good for Sydney live music- hooray!
FBI OPEN DAY
We also played at Fbi’s open day in Gosford which was really good. The Paper Scissors’ own Jai Pyne was on a panel with Dan Zilber (Fbi radio Music Programmer) and others talking about how to get started in the music industry. There is a quick little interview here with some points and tips from Jai who has managed The Paper Scissors as well as running Our First Label since 2006.
SPRING MIX
There is a mix up on TPS Soundcloud with some new music and old classics that we’ve been digging. Tracklist includes some new discoveries including Danish band When Saints Go Machine, Gardens & Villa out of the U.S and a sneak preview of a new TPS track, so check it out.
RECOMMENDATIONS / RANTS
If you’re into food check out Lucky Peach, a new quarterly magazine by McSweeny’s edited by David Chang, it’s pretty god damned nerdy but a very good read.
Music wise, we went to Harvest which was killer- TV On The Radio, Portishead, The Family Stone were all awesome.
Been listening to The War On Drugs- great Americana with atmosphere, Shabazz Palaces- weirdo hip hop that is blurry and funky at the same time.
We now bid you adieu and will mail you again soon, thanks for reading.
Don’t forget to check out our facebook / twitter / soundcloud / website and all that jazz
